Norske Skog entered into new long term sales agreements in Australasia

Norske Skog has separately entered into new long-term supply agreements for newsprint and improved grade paper with the Australian media groups News Limited and Fairfax Media Limited. Volatile freight rates encourages EC anti-trust probe into shipping lines on Asian routes

Japan: housing starts surge 7%

Total starts in October were 90,226 units, 7.1% more than October last year. Brazil: pulp and paper exports up 8.2%

Brazilian pulp and paper export revenues totaled $6.50 billion by November 2013, i.e., 8.2% higher than the accumulated result in the same period in 2012. Global sawnwood production has increased 5,5% since 2008

In 2012, global sawnwood production totalled 413 million m³, representing an increase of 3.8% compared to 2011 (398 million m³) and an increase of 5.5% over the fi gure for 2008 (391 million m³). Sawnwood production declined a lot in 2009, but has been recovering gradually over the period 2010-12.
